Southlake Stage
BRANDING
2016
The Southlake Stage project involved concepting and branding a theater in Southlake, Texas. My proposal for Southlake Stage was a theater which focuses on giving opportunities for underprivileged groups of people to become agents in the cultural output of America, and to express their creativity and passion
I made extensive use throughout my project of hand lettering. The way the letters interact with each other reflects the idea of interconnectedness. The bright, saturated colors suggest friendliness and energy. The colorful illustrations atop black and white photography reflect the idea of a theater being a world that one creates in their mind.
The production shown is Shakespeare’s Romeo and Julio put on in partnership with USCRI, the organization that handles the resettlement of refugees and helps them adjust to their new surroundings and participate in society. I thought this was an important topic to focus on due to current events around the world as well as the political climate in the US.
